Proposed shipyard expansion
Hodgdon Defense Composites (HDC) is a Maine-owned and operated company, with offices in Portland, Maine. All boatbuilding activities are currently performed at Hodgdon Yachts' shipyard, located in East Boothbay, Maine.
HDC is currently assisting Hodgdon Yachts in developing plans for a substantial off-site shipyard expansion. As described in a January 26, 2008 article in the Bangor Daily News, HDC has acquired 17 acres of waterfront property on the Penobscot River in the town of Hampden, with the intent of developing this property to manufacture high-speed composite boats at production volumes for the US military, foreign military sales, and civilian markets. When developed, this proposed facility will be the construction site for future HDC vessels, including the CCM, MAKO, the Coastal Patrol Boat, and the MREC.
